As winter approaches, one can't help but wonder if we'll see snow and ice - or at least a lot of it- over the next couple of months. It's the most popular question/statement I get lately. Here's how it goes: "Hey Christy! How's the baby? Are we going to have snow?" or "Hey Christy! How are those babies? Bring us some snow!!". We usually will have a couple of instances where the cold air is in place and moisture moves in to bring that much loved snow, but a lot of times the freezing air is so shallow with warmer air up around 5000 feet that we tend to have a better chance of sleet and/or freezing rain around the Upstate. January is usually the month to watch for winter events.
How do you prepare when it looks like one is on the way? Do you raid your friendly grocery store for bread and milk? Do you leave the tv on overnight so you can quickly check to see if school is cancelled? What is it that you like most about snow - is it the snow, or is it the snow DAY? We'll keep an eye out for our chances for wintry weather!
