How to Ensure Nice Weather for Your Events

It’s an offer I can’t refuse, which is why I’m making it…

The upcoming drop in temperatures for this weekend has me looking ahead to fall, when we usually see some really nice weather. This also means more of us make plans for outdoor events, knowing we are much less likely to be dealing with heat and humidity.

Now I don’t know if I’m lucky or just good at scheduling my own time off, but whether I’m off in the fall season…or just about anytime of year…the weather usually turns out well across the Upstate (whether I’m in town or not!). Christy Henderson has mentioned more than once that is seems like there never are any big storms if I’m off; they usually seem to happen when she’s trying to take time off (let this be a warning to us all as she gets closer to maternity leave).

Where am I going with this? There seems to be an opportunity here…if you have an outdoor event coming up this fall season and would like to stack the odds in your favor as far as nice weather is concerned, you would be well served if I’m on vacation (still holding a job, mind you, or none of this will work…just paid time off). So, all you need to do is let us know that “Dan deserves some more vacation”, and your event should be protected...IF I get the time off. I’ve made this offer on-air in the past with, strangely, no takers. So let us know, preferably by 8/20…we need to make plans here, too. I’ll forward your request to the right people and we’ll see what happens. Unfortunately, we can make no guarantees. That’s probably why no one ever responded to the on-air requests.

Whatever festivals, events, weddings, reunions, etc. you may be working on for the coming months, here’s hoping that the rain we desperately need starts just minutes after you’re done with your event.
