Watch The Bill Ellis Lima Bean Challenge

After more than a week of delay, WSSL-FM's Bill Ellis devoured a 16-ounce can of lima beans live during the regular Ellis and Bradley segment on Daybreak on June 12.

The whole thing started more than a week earlier when a Question of the Day answer identified lima beans as the second "worst" vegetable. We assume that would be a popularity based observation.

Ellis attacked the correct answer by claiming that not only did he love lima beans, but that he would eat an entire can during their next appearance.

But the next day we carried a portion of President Obama's speech in Egypt which left us no time to talk to our friends from WSSL-FM. Ellis and Bradley couldn't appear with us a day later because they were on a live remote outside their studio.

Bill begged out of the stunt on June 7 because he was going to play in a golf tournament that morning and the combination of heat, sweat and lima beans encouraged us to allow him to take a pass.

So finally on Friday June 12 Bill did eat the entire can. The video is included at the top of the page.

We're not sure what to make of it besides the fact that it was an impressive performance.
