Things I'd Like To See

If I were commissioner for one day……

-High school football games would be played in the rain on Friday nights instead of being “rained-out”. This past week, nine such area games fell into this category. By the time they would have kicked-off the rain had either subsided or would do so shortly there after.

-Baseball wouldn’t allow non-contending teams to hold day-night doubleheaders after July 1st. In Cincinnati this week, the Pirates and Reds played before 2,000 in the afternoon and 9,000 at night in a 40,000-seat stadium. I have a feeling they would have made more money if they’d simply opened the park once.

-NFL fans wouldn’t over react when their team is 0-3 in the pre-season but has held out a significant number of starters so that they can heal up.

-The ground could cause a fumble.

-Florida wouldn’t be allowed to play Charleston Southern.

-Coaches, famous college basketball coaches as an example, who admit to cheating on their wives wouldn’t be allowed to call a news conference and blame their damaged public image on the media.

-The Yankees Joba Chamberlain would be made to go on an extensive conditioning program to the extent that he could pitch at least six innings every five days. I don’t care for the Yankees I simply think he needs to pull his weight instead of simply pulling around his weight.

-High school football games would go back to lasting a little over two hours.

-Texas wouldn’t be allowed to play Louisiana-Monroe
