The Three's Hit Home

You've heard the saying that bad news comes in three's.

It couldn't be more true at my house.

Maybe "bad" is too strong a word for what's going on. Actually, it's more like "aggravating."

As I write this, the air conditioning to the upstairs portion of my house is out for the third time this summer.

One of the springs that make my attic stairs go up (and stay up) is broken.

And daughter Kayla says her car isn't running very well.

I'm taking care of all those things (hopefully) on Thursday in one fell swoop.

For the meantime, fans are blowing cool air from downstairs to the upstairs. I wish the a/c repairman could've come right away, but I guess he has more business than he can handle during this hot weather, and I just have to be patient.

A latch is holding the attic stairs shut. This repairman offered to come the next day, but I told him to wait until Thursday.

And Kayla drives her car with fingers crossed. Again, it could've been worked on right away, but Thursday is a more convenient day for one of us in the family to be without a car while Kayla's is fixed.

Home ownership is rarely dull. There's always something that needs to be repaired, painted, watered, sanded, mowed, swept, seeded, hung, recycled, plowed, washed, or replaced.

Many of these things I take care of myself. I stay pretty darned busy.

Other repairs I wouldn't dream of attempting, and that's the category everything Thursday falls into.

Here's hoping that Friday is a good ol' dull day.

I need one.
