Many of you followed with interest my experience over the last couple of years with sleep apnea.
I'm happy to tell you I continue to do much better thanks to the dental appliance I wear when I sleep.
This week I've had an entirely new medical experience: my first true exposure to chiropractic.
I won't go into detail about my conditions that are being treated or the doctor.
But I will tell you it's been an eye-opening, back-popping week.
And best of all, I'm feeling much better.
I've had four days of treatment this week, two hours at a time, and more is scheduled.
A typical treatment has involved heat and electrical muscle stimulation as I lie on my side, followed by laying flat on a table with rollers underneath that massage my back as I get more heat and electrical stimulation. Then the doctor "adjusts" me. That's followed by a lengthy massage.
I'm so relaxed, I sometimes take a little catnap.
I'm spongy by the time the treatment session is over.
As soon as my first "adjustment" was performed, I felt better. Significantly better. I noticed I was walking better, and my wife remarked my posture had improved. There's a lot more treatment to go, but we're off to a good start.
The doctors have provided extensive explanation of the treatment. They ask me numerous questions each session about how I'm feeling. The entire staff has been professional and put me at ease.
After today's session, I did some pretty hard work, push-mowing a friend's big yard. I got through it just fine with energy and muscle power to spare. I wasn't surprised because so much has been done this week to get my body in better shape.
My lack of understanding and appreciation of chiropractic has changed this week. Now I know first-hand how it can help.
And at age 55, I take all the help I can get to achieve and maintain a healthy body.
