Every day we have the chance to arm ourselves with defenses against cancer and it starts with what we put in our bodies. Number one, drink pomegranate juice. Studies show the red stuff can help decrease the growth of prostate cancer and possibly lung cancer.
Dr. James Bearden says, "Drinking 8 ounces of pomegranate juice if you have prostate cancer if you have prostate cancer. It has not been studied as a preventative measure but it actually decreases the prostate specific antigen or the PSA.

He says, "Blueberries cranberries strawberries are very powerful antioxidants and there has been some good studies in mice that shows it retards the growth of colorectal cancer."
Chewing the fat at number three, try not to eat fatty foods or too much red meat which can lead to an increased risk of colorectal cancer.
According to Dr. Bearden, "I don't think you need to be fanatical about this but maybe if you had steak once a week instead of three or four times a week."
Working off the pounds at number four, Dr. Bearden says you have to watch your weight. For people who are obese or overweight, your chances of cancer go up dramatically.
He claims, "There's a marked increase in breast, prostate, colorectal, endometrial cancer, that's cancer in the lining of the womb and renal cell cancer.”
Puffing it out at number five, limit your exposure to smoke. Even people exposed to second hand smoke have seen an increase in cancer rates.
Number six, try to reduce stress. Studies show people who have high anxiety can have weaker immune systems.
Finally rounding out our top seven take the mineral selenium.
Dr. Bearden says, "It has been shown that selenium does decrease in smaller populations the incidence of prostate cancer and selenium may actually retard the growth of prostate cancer when it appears."

Dr. Bearden says if you can only do a few things make sure you control your weight and exercise.
He also says that eating vegetables have shown to reduce the risk of certain cancers.
