Better Gas Mileage By Going Green

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Gas prices are something that’s on everyone’s mind these days. As they soar to record numbers, you might wonder if there is some way to save some cash at the pump. News Channel 7 has three easy tips on saving gas mileage and you don’t even have to own a hybrid.

Step One…Avoid surging. According to AAA, surging or accelerating quickly from a stop wastes the most gas in your car. In fact, if you change your driving habits from “aggressive” to “moderate,” you can save up to 30% on gas mileage.

Step Two…Try driving at lower speeds. Just by going 55-60 mph instead of 70 or 80, that can save you 12-14% in gas mileage. You’re making your dollar go farther and releasing less pollution into the atmosphere.

Step Three…Use your cruise control. If you know you are going to be on the highway for any length of time, even five miles, set the cruise and save some gas.
