56 year old George Tambini wouldn't miss a workout for anything. He joined Activate Upstate two years ago and hasn't quit making every weigh in.
George says, "As you get older your bones get more brittle you slow down and I decided I have seen it and I am not going to let it happen that's my motivation."
George says he wants to drop just 5 pounds, but that has seemed pretty tough lately.
He syas, "Take a five pound bag of sugar and run with it for 5 miles, you find out the difference what five pounds can make on you.
The middle of February is when many people who vow to lose weight at the first of the year begin to revert to their old habits. Marc McCulley head of Activate Upstate says people can plateau around this time.
George says, "Take a five pound bag of sugar and run with it for 5 miles, you find out the difference what five pounds can make on you."
He says there are some simple things you can do to stay on track. Number one, set goals but make them daily goals and don't overwhelm yourself with something months down the road.
He says, "Write those goals down. By putting those goals on paper somewhere you can see them on a daily basis keeps you in tune to what you are trying to accomplish."
He says make them achievable. Finally he says do like George and change up your routine. He claims the number one killer for your workout is boredom.
For George, he says every morning he reminds himself of who he wants to be and what ti will take to get there.
He says, "I want to be able to go out and play with my grandchildren and do things."
So far according to the Activate Upstate website, teams in Greenville have lost more than eight thousand pounds so far. Spartanburg teams have lost more than one thousand.
