Losing weight is the number one New Years resolution and hopefully most of you battling the bulge haven't fallen off the wagon yet.
Unfortunately statistics show ninety-five percent of all diets fail.
Now, local experts offer some weight loss secrets that will help you melt the pounds away.

When you are trying to lose weight, experts like Cindy Thomas say the cravings for fatty foods can be tough to fight.
According to Thomas, "It is a drug. Food is a drug. It is an addiction just like alcohol or drugs except for you can quit those two things but you can't quit eating. So you have to be very controlled with your eating."

So if will power alone doesn't do the trick, there are some other easy tactics that might.

Before you sit down for a meal, Dr. Doug Whitehead says make your stomach feel full.

He says, "You can increase your fiber in your diet pre-meal. You might want to try a fiber tablet and some water."

He says cut out regular sodas. It will reduce your daily intake by hundreds of calories and if you can go without the diet sodas as well that could reduce sugar cravings.

Thomas says another trick you can use is to put your food on smaller plates so it looks like there's more food and limit yourself to one helping.

According to Thomas, "There is no food that is really bad food its the portion size."

She says if you want to curb snacking try toothpaste.

"If you eat dinner and you know you are cleaning up go brush your teeth because most people after they brush their teeth they have a minty taste in their mouth and they are not going to pick up something else to eat."

One of the biggest pieces of advise is to avoid eating when you are tired.

Thomas says, "It is easy to overeat, if you are tired most people reach for carbohydrates when they are tired."

Those carbs will turn to fat if you are going to bed and not the gym.
They also say to help you eat less try to drink a full glass of water before each meal and never skip meals.
That will trick your body into thinking you are starving and it will store more fat.
