"Walking" Path To A Greener Future

»  Comments | Post a Comment

If you have a stone pathway that's in need of a makeover, you don't have to dig it up. A Carolina company developed a product that will give your pathway some serious curb appeal without breaking your budget and harming the environment.
We're in Chesnee to talk about a local company that has a new invention which is paving the way to a greener future. "I went to Google and said ‘how to stabilize pea gravel,’" says Sandy Holliday. It was an interesting request for Holliday. She wanted to find a way to make her walking path more secure.
"I like this pea gravel, but it didn't stay in place. Every time you walked on it, it was like walking on sand," explains Holliday. The search led her to Klingstone Paths (www.klingstonepaths.com) a company based in Waynesville North Carolina. They have an eye toward making your pathways easier to navigate.
"We had already spent a lot of money on the gravel and all of our time on it. I was thinking, I don't want to dig all this gravel up and put concrete in.” The gravel is loose to start with and once the liquid is applied, a new path is set.
"It lets water run through it and it wasn't real toxic so we tried it and I liked it," said Holliday. This new substance is applied to loose rocks and makes a solid path while still letting water run through to the ground, saving you money and eliminating water waste at the same time.
Sandy says she likes going green. “Making your lawn and everything look nice, but also not hurting the environment, you feel good about it." Klingstone Paths has been remaking pathways for the last 12 years in places like Colonial Williamsburg, the Arkansas governor's mansion, and Pisgah national forest.
