Recycling At Work; Easy Ways To Go Green

»  Comments | Post a Comment

If you work at an office, you may notice recycle bins near the copier or in the break room. But do you ever wonder who takes care of those recycling duties? If you want someone to pick up your business recycling, we have the answer. We've talked about ways to Go Green and Save Green at your house, but what about in the workplace? We've got a couple of ways right here in the Upstate for you to help save the earth and help save some cash.

“The system wasn't easy for people in business settings to recycle,” explains Elizabeth Garrison of Ever-Green Recycling. She calls herself an “eco” preneur. Her business picks up paper and plastic at offices in the Upstate to be recycled so you don’t have to.

“You're saving money with your waste bill, you're saving money with your employee's time, who may be taken the stuff to be recycled and you are also saving the environment,” states Garrison.

Recycling is a huge part of our everyday life. In fact 60% of recycling is commercial. In South Carolina alone, recycling is a six billion dollar industry. That's quite a lot of paper. Garrison says, “Not only have we created a system to handle this recycling material, but we're also creating jobs and we are supporting the recycling industry, which is a huge industry in South Carolina.”

If you're interested in starting an office recycling program, here's a couple of things to do: first, start off small. Focus on a couple of things you want to reduce in the office. Next, focus on things that don't take a lot of capital investment. And finally, involve everyone on your team. It can be a team building exercise and help you save the earth.
