Saving money and energy by making your house more insulated. A company in the Upstate is going green with a solution that’s “all in one.”
Using the heat from the sun to actually cool your house. We're talking to a homeowner in Moore about how he cut his energy bill by more than 50 percent.
“Well, we just wanted to make sure we get something as energy efficient as possible.” Terry Landers is like most of us...he wants to save a little cash on his home energy bills.
“We've got the high ceilings and we thought about the heating costs and cooling costs would be pretty significant if we didn't do all we could,” says Landers. So he had his attic transformed into what looks...sort of like a space station.
“This radiant system actually uses the sun's heat to dissipate the heat out of the house in the summertime.”
Ron White with All In One Insulation says using convection, conduction and radiation can cut your power bill 30 to 50 percent...while also being better for the environment.
“We use way more energy than we really need to be using. Ultimately we are ending up in the situation we are today because of our waste,” explains White.
The “all in one” system, designed by White, seals the air in the walls and combines traditional insulation with the space age looking stuff in your attic...all to save you some cash.
“The savings on their energy bills were phenomenal.”
Builder Lisa Pellegrino built a similar home with conventional insulation to compare costs.
“The other home was about 500 dollars on average during the very warm months and his was around 200,” says Pellegrino.
Making Terry happy with his go green/save green decision.
“Something like this you pay for one time and you recoup the costs for years.”
