Paper. It's something we use tons of everyday...at home or at work. But one of the easiest ways to go green and save green is to reduce the use of your paper throughout the day.
One thing you can do is buy recycled paper. Sometimes it costs a little bit more, but it's better for the environment. Also, if you have a non-important document to print, use the back side of something you've already used...put it in the tray...and use that to print your next sheet.
Making copies is something we do throughout the day in our offices, but the copy machine actually takes up more energy than anything else in the office. What you want to do is copy on both sides of the paper just like we did with the printer. And, when you're not using the copier make sure to turn it off.
A lot of us use fax machines everyday in the office, but one thing you can do is use electronic faxes...that where you scan a piece of paper in and then send the fax electronically...that will save paper and save you time as well.
Some of us still use snail mail to pay our bills and also to send letters. One way to save some paper and save some money is to pay your bill online instead.
Another thing to remember is to turn on your printer only when you need to print something. It uses quite a bit of energy just sitting there in stand-by mode.
