If you have run down furniture that you can't throw away just yet, we have a business that helps breathe new life into chairs and tables headed for the trash.
Taking old furniture and making it new again. Inside this red building in Cherokee county they are going green to save green.
“He said just take them because if not they are just going to end up in the landfill.”
John Flynn and his wife Patti specialize in taking what could be trash and turning it into someone's treasure.
“This one is actually still in good shape because the cloth is still in place. This is not too bad this is in pretty good shape,” explains Flynn.
Since 1999, the Flynns have run Refinishing Magic in Blacksburg. It’s a small company with a big mission.
“Our mission is to keep the furniture from going into the landfill or throwing it on the side of a ditch.”
Flynn says that older furniture is built to last generations, but sometimes just needs a little extra TLC.
“We’ve done furniture that was in fires before with some water damage and smoke damage. We were able to revitalize them so they did not go to the landfill.”
They can also save people money by refinishing what is already there, such as kitchen cabinets.
“We can save those frames. There's nothing wrong with them, they just need to be brought back to life again.”
Keeping his promise to go green and save green.
“You liked it before and you can like it again.”
The Flynns say that if you have old furniture at your house, they will even come and pick it up for the refinishing project.
