Clemson (16-14, 8-8) will face Virginia Tech (15-16, 4-12) in the first round of the 59th ACC Tournament on Thursday night at 7:00 PM at Philips Arena in Atlanta. The Tigers enter the tournament as the seventh seed off an 8-8 record, while Virginia Tech is 4-12 and is seeded 10th. The winner will play second seed Duke on Friday at 7 PM.

Senior guard Tanner Smith made two free throws with 2:41 to play to give Clemson the two-point advantage, and the Tiger defense held Tech scoreless over that final stretch to secure the victory.
Clemson improves to 15-13 overall with the win, including 7-7 in the ACC. NC State falls to 18-11 and is 7-7 in the ACC. The Tigers can still finish fourth in the conference standings, and possibly earn a first-round tournament bye, should the Tigers win out and Virginia loses its remaining games.
