Body Identified As Jandie Finley, Suspect Charged With Murder

Three people are charged in connection with the Jandie Finley case, which is now being called a murder.

Finley's body was found Thursday afternoon day in a wooded area in Greenville County.  Deputies say a tip led them to this area, but they won't say who provided the information.

Murder suspect Brian Sturgeon made his first court appearance Friday afternoon, where he actually spoke out saying he didn't kill Jandie Finley.

Deputies say Sturgeon shot Finley in the head, killing her.  But according to warrants he didn't stop there.  Warrants say Sturgeon drove around with Finley's body in the car asking people for help dumping her remains and getting rid of the vehicle.

Pickens County deputies found the burned remains of the Chevy Aveo Sturgeon was driving, and investigators say he had help burning the car.

Pickens County deputies arrested 43-year-old Doyle Gillespie and 30-year-old Sabrina Fuller on Friday.  Warrants say they helped Sturgeon torch the car.  Sturgeon is also charged in the arson, just one more twist in this case.

"I didn't kill your daughter and I'm sorry all this has happened.  It's a nasty, nasty situation," said Sturgeon.

"But you're still confident now he is the killer?”

“Our investigators were able to obtain probable cause that he is the suspect in this homicide and using the probable cause, we got this warrant," said Master Deputy Michael Hildebrand with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Sturgeon is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center under no bond.
