The Boys & Girls Club of the Upstate in Cherokee County would like to make it a happy holiday season for the 169 elementary school aged members it has in its after school program.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to realize their full potentional as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
Dr. Bill James, Superintendent of the Cherokee County School System says there is no way to put a price on having someone to care about these kids after school. It's a safe place where kids in need can go to get support, help with their homework, and guidance. Dr. James says Director Vance Hammond, a former Clemson football player, inspires the kids, greeting them every day with a smile and letting them know someone cares - motivating them to succeed.
They are looking for all types of safe, new toys - everything from sports equipment and games to dolls and craft-making kids for the girls. They will receive the toys during a Christmas party and a visit from Santa Tuesday, December 18th.
