Anderson Co. Mother Charged With Giving Drugs To Her 12-year-old Son

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A 12-year-old drugged with Xanax and Anderson County sheriff's investigators say his own mother gave him the pills.

The boys father told investigators the boy admitted he took two pills his mother gave him a Colonopin and a "totem pole," the street name for Xanax.  Theresa Pitt is charged with unlawful neglect after investigators say she first borrowed $20 from her son to buy illegal prescription drugs, then gave him 2 of the pills.

Incident reports show the boy’s father first grew suspicious when he picked up his son after spending the weekend with Pitt.  He said his son was accusing his mother of stealing his money to buy drugs.  On the ride home when his son started acting strangely the man knew something was wrong and that's when he asked if he'd taken anything.

"A range of emotions, and lethargic behavior exhibited from his child and that's when he contacted law enforcement and he was advised to take his child to the emergency room to be checked out," said Susann Griffin with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports show the 12-year-old did test positive for the drugs, and that Pitt admitted to buying illegal drugs, but not to giving them to her son. She told investigators she just gave the boy something for a pain in his legPitt is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
