Spartanburg County Sheriff's investigators tell us they have a suspect in custody for the shooting of an Upstate teenager.
We're told Taurean Akila Martese Kenan, 19, was arrested around 2:30am Friday morning at a Greyhound bus station in Atlanta. Kenan was returned to Spartanburg and booked into the dentention center by 5:30am.
He was wanted for the shooting of Patrick O'Neil Sexton, 17, on Irby Road. Officers say someone walked up to a car Sexton was riding in on Thursday afternoon just after 1:00pm and started shooting.
Sexton suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery. Sexton is listed in critical condition according to the Sheriff's Office. The driver of the car was not injured during the shooting.
Kenan is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and assault with intent to kill according to signed arrest warrants. Detectives believe the motive for the shooting was retaliation for an earlier incident between the two teens.
