A young man in jail on an involuntary manslaughter charge is free to go home. A judge granted bond for 19-year-old Steven Moller who is accused of killing Sean Kennedy at a bar last May.
A judge set bond for Steven Moller Friday morning at $25,000.
In court Moller's attorney spoke on his behalf. Moller is accused of punching Sean Kennedy outside Brew's bar on
The grand jury decided the charge should be involuntary manslaughter instead of murder. Kennedy's family was upset then and today was even more outraged as a judge has granted Moller bond.
“He gets to be home for Christmas and my family has to be without him every Christmas. Every birthday for the rest of our lives. It seems that that's not fair,” said Sean’s mother Elke Kennedy.
“He’s scared to death. He's devastated. Never in a million year did he think he’d be in jail after going to a bar,” said Moller’s attorney Ryan Beasley.
Moller’s attorney expects him to be released sometime on Friday. We're told the next step is this case is Moller will be back in court to make a plea before a judge. Then there's sentencing. Involuntary manslaughter carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
