Storm Team 7 reports that scattered strong and severe storms are expected to develop through Thursday evening as a cold front slowly arrives from the north.
The main threat from the strongest storms will be damaging wind gusts and the potential of penny-sized hail.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 6 pm for the Western Upstate as well as for Macon, Jackson and Transylvania counties.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the rest of the Upstate until 10 p.m.
Chief Meteorologist Christy Henderson says that the highest rain chances will be over the Upstate and the main threat for damaging weather will be ending after 8 p.m. around our area.
Once the cold front moves through, milder temperatures and drier air are expected to be the feature Friday through the weekend.
