The Polk County Sheriff confirmed to NewsChannel 7 that four deputies with the department have been fired. They were dismissed two days ago.
Citing employee privacy reasons, he could not disclose why they were terminated, only that it was due to "personnel problems."
According to our coverage partners at the Hendersonville Times-News, the names of those fired are:
Major Donald Hill
Lt. Brent Jackson
Deputy Jeremy Griggs
Lt. Bob Kempster
Major Hill was the jail administrator.
County Manager Ryan Whitson says he was the 5th administrator since Sheriff Abril took office. And he also said the Sheriff has has a 95 percent turnover rate since the Sheriff took office.
Manager Whitson said the firings represent about 10 percent of the department, and the department is now left with 38 people.
The Sheriff tells us he is working to replace them.
