Sinkhole Slowed Gameday Traffic for USC's Opener

Travelers to the USC football game against N.C. State needed extra time to get to the stadium. The South Carolina Department of Transportation told us a sinkhole on Huger Street near Blossom Street in Columbia has closed two lanes of traffic on the road that many use to get to Williams-Brice stadium.

The sinkhole developed Wednesday when an underground pipe became disconnected, the state DOT says.

The DOT has set up a detour for the football game.

Two lanes will be open on Huger street for traffic heading toward the State Fairgrounds. Those two lanes will be reversed at 10 p.m. for fans leaving the game

Blossom Street traffic coming from Cayce into Columbia will not be permitted to turn right onto Huger Street.

Traffic traveling north on Olympia Avenue will not be permitted to turn left onto Whaley Street.

Traffic traveling north on Assembly Street will not be permitted to turn left onto Whaley Street.

Traffic traveling south on Assembly Street will not be permitted to turn right onto Whaley Street.
