Anderson authorities are looking for the driver of a dark blue or black Chevy Cobalt 2005-2007 model police say was involved in a fatal hit and run Tuesday morning. Police said Dara Johnson, 23, was walking beside Williamston Road at US Highway 29 when the car hit her and took off. Then a minivan hit her, trapping the woman. The Coroner’s Office said she later died from her injuries.
Johnson was walking to the store with her friend Brittany Debarr to get something to drink. "She got hit, the car hit her and she flipped. I didn't get a good description of the first car, but the second car rolled her under the wheel and that's when they stopped," Debarr said.
Anderson Police are asking anyone with information on the Cobalt to call Anderson Police at 231-2277. Police said there could be damage to the driver’s side of the car and the driver’s-side mirror.
