The Highway Patrol says a woman is in grave condition after an accident late Wednesday night in Anderson County.
A SCHP spokeswoman says the two people injured in the crash were intoxicated.
Tina Hubbard, 44, of Anderson was driving under the influence according to troopers when she rolled an SUV across three lanes of traffic on Interstate 85 north near the 28 mile marker.
Kathy Hiles of the SCHP says Hubbard lost control of the 2000 Chevrolet SUV, overcorrected, came back across the interstate and hit the median wall. Troopers say Interstate 85 Northbound was closed until 2:00 am Thursday.
Both were wearing seat belts when the wreck happened around 11:00pm. Hubbard and Mark Hubbard, 40, were both flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital after the accident.
Hiles says Tina Hubbard would face charges of DUI and driving under suspension.
Mark Hubbard is not in the hospital and is recovering at home. He says he's OK physically but didn't want to comment on the case.
The Hubbards home is only four and a half miles from the site of where they crashed on the interstate.
Greenville Hospital System says Tina Hubbard is listed in good condition.
The Highway Patrol says they are seeing a slight increase in alcohol violations. They say this could possibly be due to the economy. People going through rough times, troopers said, sometimes turn to alcohol.
Also, while they are always vigilant about drunk drivers, their official “Sober or Slammer” campaign kicks off next week and runs to the first of the year, because they do typically see an increase in drunk driving during the holiday season.
