More than 60 parole and probation violators were sentenced to a total of 44 years in prison in a program called Operation Abscond.
Using state and city resources, Spartanburg County managed to get some of the area’s repeat offenders together to put them behind bars.
A state parole agent says those sentenced Friday were repeat offenders. He says locking them up keeps our streets safe.
The violators were a diverse group including those charged with property crimes, violent burglaries, sex battery and drugs, among others.
There was also a probation violator, a prison escapee, who didn’t show up for today’s hearing.
