A utility repair company announced Tuesday through a press release they would locate a new facility in Spartanburg County, bringing 202 new jobs into the area over the next several years.

Regional Utility Services Inc. says they will spend more than $1.15 million on its new headquarters in Spartanburg County. The company provides maintenance and repair services to utility companies in North and South Carolina.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – December 16, 2008 – The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Futures Group of Spartanburg County today announced that Regional Utility Services Inc. will locate its new facility in Spartanburg County. The more than $1.15 million investment is expected to create 202 new jobs over the next several years.

Spartanburg County is a great fit for our company. It is central to all our locations and customers and provides us with a positive business environment and strong workforce. We are pleased to locate our new facility in Spartanburg County, and we appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Robert Daniel Cothran, president of Regional Utility Services.

The company plans to move its headquarters and operations to the facility in Spartanburg County. Regional Utility Services provides services to utilities in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

“As we work to compete in today’s global economy, our state’s ability to attract high-paying and highly skilled jobs is critical. Today’s announcement certainly speaks to our success in that regard. As well, this announcement is another sign that steps we have taken to enhance our state’s business climate are working to attract jobs and encourage economic growth. Regional Utility Services’ hydro and fossil fuels divisions offer services exclusively to the utility industry. The hydro division services include all maintenance and repair services required by a hydro facility. T he company’s fossil fuels division repairs and services all aspects mechanical maintenance associated with a fossil fuel facility.
