The county medical examiner says Caylee Anthony's death is considered a homicide.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities in Orlando, Florida are confirming that skeletal remains found last week are those of a toddler missing since June.

The county medical examiner says Caylee Anthony's death is considered a homicide.

A utility worker found the remains less than a half-mile from where Caylee lived. The child's mother was indicted on murder and other charges, even though a body hadn't been found until now.

The medical examiner says some of the remains were as small as pebbles, and authorities couldn't be certain how the child was killed.

Meanwhile, the Orange County sheriff says his office is looking into whether a tip about the remains was ignored over the summer.

He says the investigation will show whether authorities might have "missed a window of opportunity" in the case.
