A 68-year-old woman injured in a Christmas Eve collision was released from the hospital Monday.
Bernice Bennet was left glad to be alive after a police chase ended in a head on collision with her vehicle.
Bennet, William Boyd – the driver of the car Bennet was a passenger in -- and the suspect – a man investigators identified as Anthony Lamboy—were all injured. All were expected to recover, according to reports from police and hospital officials.
Lamboy is listed in fair condition by hosptial officials.
Investigators said earlier they tried to arrest Lamboy earlier last week for passing a forged check. During the earlier attempt to serve a warrant, officers say Lamboy assaulted an officer and fled.
Then, on Christmas Eve, officers wound up chasing Lamboy again. Investigators say that while attempting to flee, Lamboy crossed lanes and hit the car Bennet and Boyd were driving.
“I can't believe we walked away from that,” Bennet told us.
Investigators say the chase covered two counties and reached speeds of more than 100 mph.
Bennet spent Christmas in this hospital room with four broken ribs, a broken neck and bruises to her legs.
Bennett doesn't understand why investigators were pursing the man.
Law enforcement called the chase necessary to catch a wanted criminal.
