The School District of Pickens County is now offering another way to alert parents and staff in the event of emergencies or school closings. The District's e-Alert system can now be sent to cell phones/and or e-mail addresses.
According to District Spokesperson Julie Thompson, it’s free, and done in conjunction with the Daily Journal Messenger and upstatetoday.com. That’s where you can sign up. The District says it will still continue to contact radio, TV stations and post important information on the District Website in addition to offering the e-Alerts.
