Greenville Trolley Program Expands

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Beginning Thursday, the downtown trolley service will be expanded to include Thursdays from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. and Sunday service hours will be extended to 8:00 p.m.

According to Mike Horne, the City’s Fleet Services Manager, on a typical non-baseball game weekend, between 1,400 and 1,800 people ride the trolleys. The expanded schedule is designed to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to downtown Greenville in the evenings. Recognizing the need for increased service, City Council funded the expanded schedule in the City’s 2008-2009 budget.

In its third year of operation, the downtown trolley service is a partnership between the Greenville Drive and the City of Greenville and provides a free, convenient way to travel in and around the downtown area. Except on evenings when the Drive is at home, the trolleys travel along Main Street from West End Field in the historic West End, to Croft Street in downtown’s North End and beginning this week, service will now be available on Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m., on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m.

For the most up-to-date information regarding operating hours, routes and rentals, citizens can call the Trolley Hotline at 467-8887 or visit the City’s web site..
