Anderson County Sheriff's deputies say an invitation to fight by text messages on Sunday afternoon brought an Anderson couple and friends to a location where a brick, tire iron and baseball bat were used to settle a dispute on Welpine Road, according to reports in the Anderson Independent-Mail.
Deputies have identified two men as suspects that shattered the windshield of a man's car and left his wife nursing minor injuries.
The motivation for the text messages is not known. But the result was malicious damage and an alleged assault , including $500 in damage to a 2000 Nissan Sentra.
A 19-year-old woman was reportedly assaulted, suffering a cut eyelid and had her eyeglasses knocked off, when the alleged assailant hit her face with an open hand after she tried to intervene, the report states.
Her husband allegedly threw a tire iron at her alleged assailant's car, the same report states.
According to a witness, the Nissan was not damaged until the woman's husband initiated trouble by reportedly throwing a brick at the other man's Pontiac Grand Am, which was not damaged, according to Rushton's report.
