On Thursday, Greenville Police said they responded to a call from Greenville Memorial Hospital about a possible adult neglect case. An officer reported that he met the victim, Barbara Jean Taylor, 69, of 19 A E. Earle St. in Greenville.
The officer saw bed sores along the victims leg and reported that she smelled of "human waste." EMS officials said they'd been called to the scene because Taylor's caretaker believed the victim had suffered a stroke.
They told police that Taylor had been living in a small room in a cottage behind 19 E. Earle St. with no air conditioning, heavily soiled bedclothes and flies everywhere.
No charges have been filed in the case, and Greenville Police told us they wouldn't identify the suspect until charges are filed.
