Rescuers say a rock climber who fell nearly 100 feet from Looking Glass Rock in Pisgah National Forest Monday night did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
Officials say the 31-year old man from Georgia was rappelling down the granite monolith when he fell between 9 and 9:30 Monday night.
U.S. Forest Service officer Jody Bandy tells us rescuers from Brevard Rescue Squad, Transylvania County Emergency Medical Service and Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Forest Service staged at the Slick rock Trailhead, before they located the man hiking in the dark and rain.
Bandy says us he did not appear to have life-threatening injuries at the scene, but he did have cuts, abrasions and lacerations. He was transported to Mission Hospitals in Asheville. His name has not been released.
