Highway 45 in Berkeley County shut down Monday after a train carrying coal to Santee Cooper derailed, turning over nine cars.
New's 2, in Charleston, a sister station of News Channel 7 reported the incident. No injuries were reported but the road was blocked.
CSX Railroad employees reported to the scene to asess the damage.
The police in the area said the mess may take all day to clean up.
