An Upstate father will celebrate Father’s Day with his TEN children. The Gedgaudas family lives in Spartanburg. They have five girls and five boys – with a tie-breaker on the way! Sherry is expecting at the first of the year. They don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl.
Alex is the oldest at 16. Logan is the youngest at nine months. Joe, Colin, Sam, Sophia, Grace Ann, Nate, Gabby and Georgia complete the family and are the pride of their pop's life. "A lot of people say you can't have too much money. With this number of kids, you can't have too much love,” says Rick Gedgaudas.
He says he never planned on having a lot of kids. "I met this great woman, and we just decided to have a lot of kids." His wife Sherry says she didn't even like to baby-sit as a teenager. "When they are all coming down for lunch, or you are getting them in the car in this line, we're like, I'm my gosh. We're looking at each other, like, we have ten kids. We're like, can you believe that?” Yes, Sherry gave birth to all ten.
They say it's teamwork and assigned duties which makes it work. Sixteen year old Alex is like a second mom. “You are never lonely. Every day is an adventure. It's so exciting. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Sherry says her husband is a terrific dad. “When one of us is down, and not doing as much, the other one picks the slack up right away. I have a great husband.” Rick has just has one wish for Father's Day. “What I am going to do on Father's Day… is absolutely nothing."
Somehow when you see them all together you wonder if that’s possible, but you know… that’s a-okay with everyone in this clan.
