A Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputy was taken to the hospital after being injured during a traffic stop early Monday morning. One man is under arrest after the incident.
Deputy Mullinax was taken to Upstate Carolina Medical Center for treatment and has since been released.
Jimmy Lee Bright, 20, is charged with failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension third according to the incident report. Bright is still being held at the Cherokee County jail awaiting further charges and a bond hearing.
The report says Cherokee County Deputy Brian Mullinax started following a Ford F-100 pickup truck around 1:30 a.m. when the driver didn't use a turn signal at 6th Street and Cherokee Avenue. Deputy Mullinax turned on his blue lights, but the driver kept going without stopping.
The chase went to Goldmine Springs Road when the truck turned into the driveway of a home. The deputy got out of the car and was attempting to arrest the driver when the truck backed up and pinned the officer between the car door and the door jam.
The report says a taser was needed to arrest Bright.
