The trial of former Buncombe County Sheriff Bobby Medford continued on Monday in Asheville.
Three witnesses have testifed already with Jerry Pennington an employee from Henderson Amusement still on the stand. Pennington is a salesman for Henderson Amusement and testified his job was to find new places to install video poker machines. He also testified half the machines were illegal because they paid cash.
Pennington is good friends with Guy Penland who is also on trial. Penland was an unpaid volunteer with the Buncombe County Sheriff's office. Penland says he was paid by Henderson amusement to find new locations for video poker machines,
Medford is accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to protect illegal gambling operations in western North Carolina.
