Coming up Tuesday at the Statehouse:
--A House committee will debate the bill that would abolish parole in the state. The state's attorney general is pushing the bill, saying right now no one knows how long a criminal will actually serve when he's sentenced, not even the judge.
--An illegal immigration bill passed last week by the Senate is back on the House calendar Tuesday. The House will have to decide whether to go along with changes the Senate made. The bill would require employers to verify whether their employees are in the country legally.
--The full Senate is expected to debate a bill to raise the state cigarette tax by 50 cents a pack. The money would go to expand health care coverage for low-income families and children.
--A Senate committee will be working on a bill already passed by the House that would increase the penalties for a teacher or any school employee who commits criminal sexual conduct with a student.
--That same committee will also debate a bill that would allow the Ten Commandments to be posted in schools and courthouses, as long as they're with other historical documents.
--It'll also work on a bill to limit where sex offenders could live. Those convicted of crimes against children couldn't live with one thousand feet of schools, playgrounds and parks.
