GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to felony driving under the influence in a crash that killed two people.
Prosecutors say Antwan Lanier was fleeing from police in a stolen car in August 2006 when ran a stop sign at about 80 miles per hour, slamming into a Jeep Grand Cherokee on state Highway 225 in Greenwood.
The driver of the Jeep and a passenger in Lanier's car died. Lanier pleaded guilty Monday. Prosecutors say he will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, or a little over 21 years.
