Having trouble sleeping? It could have you packing on the pounds if you don't find a way to get more shut eye.
A new study, by the Centers For Disease Control, released today, found a lack of sleep can directly result in weight gain.
They studied 90-thousand adults for two years, and those who got less than 6 hours of sleep per night, gained weight and had other health issues.
However, those who slept more than 9 hours, had the same problems.
So the ideal sleep time is between 7 and 8 hours.
We spoke with one Spartanburg mother, who has a new baby. It only allows her 5 hours of sleep a night.
"When you're tired, you don't want to go out, you stay in the house more, then its easy to snack."
Todays study also found light sleepers to be more likely to smoke, use alcohol and are less active.
If you're having trouble sleeping, there are a number of sleep centers popping up around the area.
Spartanburg Regional Hospital's sleep center has long seen an increase in calls for those needing help.
