RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - One North Carolina superdelegate is bucking the results from Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary.
Rep. Heath Shuler had promised to support the Democratic candidate who won his conservative western North Carolina district. Unofficial results show Clinton won that region by 13 points.
Shuler's vote gives Clinton the support of three superdelegates in North Carolina, including Gov. Mike Easley. Six superdelegates have backed Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who took a convincing victory.
There are now eight remaining superdelegates in North Carolina who have not committed to a candidate.
Rep. Miller to meet with his wife's favorite candidate
Democratic Rep. Brad Miller hasn't made up his mind as to who to support in the presidential race. His wife's choice is clear.
Esther Hall sat directly behind Obama during his victory speech in Raleigh after he won the North Carolina primary Tuesday night.
Cameras caught Hall smiling and holding a sign for Obama, and her face was splashed across television screens and the front page of the couple's hometown newspaper, The News & Observer of Raleigh.
Miller was in Washington, still making up his mind.
Miller is an uncommitted superdelegate and has long been courted by both Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Office spokeswoman Luanne
Canipe says Miller has no immediate plans to endorse either candidate but will meet with Obama today.
