Spartanburg Water experienced a water main break around early Thursday morning on Dean Street at the corner of Dean and Daniel Morgan Avenue.
Dean Street between Daniel Morgan Avenue and East Cleveland Street is closed to traffic as repairs to the water main are expected to take until Friday morning.
Crews were onsite within an hour and began repairs. Customers in the downtown area and the Eastside of Spartanburg may experience discolored water as a result of the break.
Spartanburg Water staff will be flushing water from the system throughout the day to remove discolored water from the water mains.
Customers experiencing discolored water are encouraged to allow their water to run for a period of time to flush the discolored water through their plumbing systems. Although the water may appear discolored, it is safe to drink, and meets all current drinking water regulations.
