A South Carolina woman pleaded guilty to charges that she posed as a surrogate mother for money.
The 8th Circuit Solicitor's Office confirms Jessica O'Donnell, 28, of Hodges pleaded guilty to seven charges in the case. Solicitor Jerry Peace confirms O'Donnell was sentenced to the six months she's already spent behind bars.
A judge ordered her to repay close to $9,000 and she will be on probation for five years.
The Index-Journal reports O'Donnell advertised she would be a surrogate mother if families paid her $1,000. The newspaper says the woman collected more than $14,000 in the scam before she was arrested in December.
Her husband, Daniel O'Donnell, faces the same charge and will be tried later.
