A South Carolina Department of Corrections officer was arrested by SLED agents and charged with misconduct in office, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and attempting to furnish contraband.
SCDC employee Charley Nicole Calvert, age 22, of Hodges, was booked at the Laurens County Detention Center. Arrest Warrants state an undercover officer was used in the bust, and Calvert allegedly agreed to deliver a controlled substance to an inmate at the Perry Correctional Institution in exchange for $300.
This arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by SLED, SCDC, the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, and the Clinton Police Department.
