It's the eve of the election and Sen. Barack Obama is hitting the battleground states including North Carolina. After the news of Obama's grandmother's death was released, the rally's schedule was pushed back until 6pm.

Obama was in Charlotte Monday hoping to energize his supporters and turn North Carolina blue.

A crowd of thousands waited in line to see the senator since early this morning.

This is a key state in the race for the White House. North Carolina carries 15 electoral votes and polls show the candidates head to head in the state.

North Carolina has not gone blue since President Carter so this election could be a historic event for the state.

This will be Obama's second stop today in a battleground state. He was in Florida this morning and will leave from here to go to Virgina.
