Governor Sanford Issues Statement on Veterans Day
Columbia, S.C. * November 11, 2008 * Governor Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on the observance of Veterans Day:
“As we all know, freedom is indeed not free and is only made possible by courage and sacrifice at an individual and collective level,” Gov. Sanford said. “All of us are at times guilty of taking for granted the notions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that were set in motion by our nation’s Founding Fathers and preserved by those willing to make sacrifices, foremost among them our nation’s veterans. To that end, today is about stopping to say ‘Thank you,’ to the many thousands of veterans across our state and nation, and to that end I’d urge every South Carolinian to take the time to do so.”
