As moms and daughters headed out to shop for bargains Friday, the boys did some shopping of their own.
South Carolina's tax-free holiday for guns had men shopping in droves.
From the outside, it looked just like any other day at Lawson’s Outfitters in Clinton, but on the inside.
“Pure chaos! We opened the door with a crowd and it hasn't slowed down. Everybody's coming to buy, not to look,” says Lawson’s Outfitters owner Danny Lawson.
Lawson is enjoying the fruits of his labor. This tax-free holiday was partly his idea.
“Started out as a joke actually, we were laughing about tax free. She said let's do it on guns,” says Lawson.
The next thing he knew, the "Second Amendment Weekend" came to pass.
While the gun enthusiasts were liking the deals this Black Friday, others were motivated by fear, afraid that the Obama Administration will tighten gun laws.
Gun opponents do not like people being able to buy guns for less, but gun supporters say the right people are buying the firearms.
“The people buying guns are the people that need them not ones doing the crime on the street. They get them to protect themselves or to hunt with,” says Lawson.
One thing is for sure, the gun tax holiday seems to be helping business in this down economy.
The gun tax-free holiday runs through Saturday.
