COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's play this weekend could go a long way to determining Clemson's next head coach.
The Gamecocks travel to Death Valley on Saturday for the traditional season-ending game with the rival Tigers.
Along with trying to qualify for a bowl game, Clemson is also searching for Tommy Bowden's replacement. Dabo Swinney has won three of five games as interim coach. A victory over the team's biggest in-state rival could enhance Swinney's resume to keep the job past November.
Should the Gamecocks win, it could push Clemson off in a different direction and perhaps enhance South Carolina's recruiting edge.
The Gamecocks have won only eight of the past 32 games against Clemson.
